Inventory observation succeeds or fails before auditors arrive. The night before, labels should be readable, quarantine cages closed, and open shipments parked in a clearly marked bay.
Freeze or log
A full freeze is ideal for a short count window. If operations cannot stop, log every receipt and shipment with timestamps and document numbers so cut-off can be tested. Auditors will sample both directions.
Sheet control
Numbered count sheets, dual sign-off on completed aisles, and a controlled blank-sheet log prevent silent additions after test counts. Train temporary counters the morning of — not during — the count.
