Closing an inventory finding before the covenant test
A manufacturer with a yen-denominated working-capital facility faced a year-end inventory overstatement risk after a system migration left slow-moving SKUs misclassified. Harborline’s fieldwork team extended test counts into the spare-parts cage, traced aged items to usage reports, and proposed a write-down that management accepted in time for the lender’s covenant certificate.
The statutory opinion was unmodified. The management letter recommended a quarterly spare-parts aging review — a control change the client implemented before the following March count.
